A cake fit for a queen was not originally part of the brief for this cake which took pride of place at the inaugural National Tea Day event on 21st April 2017. The organisers had just thought of a teapot pouring flowers, brightly coloured but not gaudy.
The main 3-tiered cake was a vanilla sponge while the teapot as Rice Krispie cake covered in modelling chocolate and airbrushed to give the desired colour. Then there were the flowers ranging in size from ¼ “to 2”; fortunately these could be prepared in advance as was the teapot. All told we were working on this cake for almost a month with the final assembly (4 hours) done on site.
Because of the number of people at the event, over 2,000, we also provided cutters in the form of the tea chests.
